Nominal clock arithmetic

Each clock time becomes a minute-of-day value. A later end stays on the same unspecified day; an earlier end receives exactly one 1,440-minute overnight adjustment. Dates and daylight-saving transitions are intentionally outside this model.

What happens when the end time is earlier?

The calculator infers one crossing into the following day. It never infers more than one overnight crossing.

What do identical start and end times mean?

They mean zero elapsed nominal clock time. A 24-hour interval cannot be represented by identical clock times in this workflow.

Can a break exceed the interval?

No. A break equal to the gross interval is valid and produces zero net time, but a larger break is rejected.

How are decimal hours displayed?

Exact net minutes are divided by 60 and rounded to at most four decimal places for display. The internal whole-minute result remains exact.

Does this account for daylight saving time?

No. It performs nominal clock arithmetic without a date, time zone, UTC offset, or daylight-saving rule.

Is this a payroll or compliance tool?

No. It does not apply wage, overtime, break, rounding, labor-law, or timesheet rules.
